Suntory Spirits to complete Hakushu Distillery renewal by September

The upgrade includes new floor malting and yeast cultivation processes to enhance whisky production.

Japan’s Suntory Spirits has announced that its Hakushu Distillery in Yamanashi Prefecture will finish a major renewal project by September 2024.

The overhaul, which started last year, aims to boost craftsmanship quality and improve the visitor experience.

The upgrade includes new floor malting and yeast cultivation processes to enhance whisky production.

A new Bird Bridge, completed in May, now connects the Visitor Center with the Bird Sanctuary, allowing guests to enjoy the surrounding nature.

Additionally, the Hakushu Terrace restaurant will open on 1 September, featuring local ingredients, and a new tour, the Hakushu Distillery MONOZURI Tour Prestige, will replace the current premium tour on 20 September.

Hakushu Distillery, established in 1973 and known as the “Mountain Forest Distillery,” is situated at the base of Mt. Kaikomagatake in the Southern Alps.
