Retail Asia Awards opens nominations for outstanding retailers

Deadline of submission is on 24 March 2023.

The past few years have witnessed how the retail industry embraced changes brought by the rapid adoption of digital channels in its operations. The growth of e-commerce landscape and online retail spaces allowed brands to reach more customers across the globe and provide more flexibility into their offerings.

Now, fierce market competition and faster production rates have highlighted the need to employ sustainability measures in the industry and incorporate such measures into retailers’ processes. This comes as the environmental impacts of the ever-growing industry becomes more evident. Organisations that are steering and making huge leaps towards this goal deserve to be recognised.

Retail Asia continues to celebrate industry excellence amidst a prosperous year for the region as it proudly brings back the Retail Asia Awards, now in its 18th year. The prestigious awards programme, which has been highlighting outstanding performances in the retail industry since 2004, gathers Asia’s best retailers and shines light on their remarkable retail initiatives.

"Winning the Retail Asia Awards of 2022 is more than just an accolade for us. It is a recognition of the collaborative effort that we have made in the past two years. This award is an acknowledgement of the hard work and the perseverance of the whole SM group. Our corporate partners, our national and local government partners, our MSME tenant partners, employees, agency frontliners, the volunteers and even our shoppers to help each other foster and nurture partnerships together and bounce back stronger than ever in the most difficult moments in our history." said Steven Tan, President of SM Supermalls upon bagging the ESG Initiative of the Year - Philippines award last year.

"We are incredibly honored and it's fantastic recognition for all our teams around the world whilst we operate stores in Australia and New Zealand. We also have an amazing team across Asia who work hard at developing and sourcing our products and this extends to our suppliers also. These awards celebrate the ongoing dedication all our team members have to Kmart. And when we put our customers at the heart of everything that we do, we can achieve amazing things." said John Gualtieri, CEO of Kmart Australia. The firm bagged the International Retailer of the Year - Australia, Sustainability Initiative of the Year - Australia and the Store Design of the Year (Large) - Australia awards last year.

"I am truly honored to receive three prestigious awards this year from the Retail Asia Awards, customer experience of the year, digital initiative of the year and Retail app of the year. I would like to take this opportunity to recognize and extend our gratitude to those who made it possible, our fantastic teams, our technology partners, and most of all our customers for their unconditional support." said Olivier Bron, Chief Executive Officer of Department Store, Central Retail Corporation upon bagging the Digital Initiative of the Year - Thailand, O2O Customer Experience of the Year - Thailand, and the Retail App of the Year - Thailand awards last year.

"We're extremely proud of receiving this little word. Actually, this is the conclusion of fantastic team workover the past few months and years, and we're really proud today to receive this award. I really warmly thanked, actually all the teams and all the people that work in order to achieve the success that we have today. And we have much more to do in the next few years, but we are extremely proud to be here today." said David Llamas, Chief Digital Officer of Central Retail Corporation upon bagging the Digital Initiative of the Year - Thailand, O2O Customer Experience of the Year - Thailand, and the Retail App of the Year - Thailand awards last year.
