Shinsegae’s E-Mart24 to open fourth store in Malaysia by end-September

The company plans to open 10 stores by end-2021.

Shinsegae’s E-Mart24 will open its fourth store in Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur at the end of September, as part of a trend amongst Korean convenience retailers expanding overseas as the local market becomes more saturated, Yonhap reported.

The store will carry food products, such as instant cup rice and Korean street foods like "tteokbokki," a Korean snack made from rice cakes and red chilli pepper sauce. It will also have "gimbap," rice rolls with a variety of vegetables.

The company plans to open 10 stores by the end-2021 and 300 stores within five years.

E-Mart24 opened its third outlet in the Malaysian state of Selangor on Thursday after launching its first store in an office district in Kuala Lumpur in June.
