Sportswear set for 14.9% growth by 2029

It is driven by the growing trend of casual dress codes across the world.

Sportswear is leading the growth in the global apparel and footwear market, with a projected 14.9% increase from 2024 to 2029, according to Euromonitor International.

The surge is fuelled by the global focus on health and wellness and the growing trend of casual dress codes across the world. As consumers increasingly prioritise comfort and functionality, sportswear is becoming a staple in wardrobes worldwide.

Emerging markets in Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East and Africa present significant opportunities for brands, thanks to rapid economic growth and rising consumer spending.

Asia Pacific alone is expected to contribute 33% of the global value growth in apparel and footwear sales over the same period.

Overall, the apparel and footwear market grew by 2% in 2024, with sportswear outpacing other categories such as outerwear (4.2% growth), womenswear (3.7%), menswear (3.9%), and footwear (5.9%).

Global sales are also forecasted to grow by 4.3% through 2029, with shifting consumer preferences favoring experiences over material goods further shaping the market landscape.
