Courts Asia opens ‘Big Box' in Bekasi

Courts Asia, a leading electrical, IT and furniture retailer in Southeast Asia, opened its ‘Big-Box’ megastore in Bekasi, Indonesia, last month. The megastore with 130,000sqf of retail space houses 12,000 product offerings from 200 brands.

Designed as a one-stop shopping destination, the megastore also features popular Indonesian F&B outlets such as Kopi Gayo, Chicken Story and Cup Don.

Terry O’Connor, executive director and group CEO of Courts Asia, said Courts is excited to mark its entry into Indonesia, its third market, with the opening of the Courts Megastore in Bekasi, Indonesia’s most populous suburb.

Plans are on track for three stores to be opened in Jakarta next year, to bring the Courts Big-Box and other category concepts to more residents in Indonesia.

He added that also in the pipeline is the rollout of the retailer’s multi-channel capabilities to expand its online presence in Indonesia.

Designed by an international consultancy which drew inspiration from the vibrant local culture, the megastore is a blend of traditional design elements with modern concepts.

Courts Megastore Bekasi is segregated into four zones. The Live Zone equips homes with the latest range of household appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators and washing machines. The Play Zone showcases a wide range of digital gadgets and products that include televisions, mobile phones, tablets, computers, digital cameras, audio accessories, office equipment. The Relax Zone features home furniture and furnishings, kitchen cabinets, mix & match pieces and accessories. The Sleep Zonehas beds and bedding products.

Courts also introduced its innovative retail concepts such as Market Hall, dedicated to special promotions and a huge range of cash & carry products; Sofa Maker, for customised sofa sets; Kids Play Area; and Courts Kitchen, where product launches and cooking demonstrations are held.
