Marks & Spencer exits Philippine market after nearly 40 years

The closure reflects changing consumer trends.

Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI), a subsidiary of the SSI Group, has announced it will close all Marks & Spencer stores in the Philippines, with operations ending on 2 May 2026.

Marks & Spencer has been in the Philippines for nearly 40 years, offering British quality and heritage to Filipino shoppers.

SSI said the decision comes as consumer preferences and shopping habits evolve, prompting the company to focus on brands aligned with current and future market trends.

“This has not been an easy decision,” the management said. “Building Marks & Spencer in the Philippines has been a meaningful and rewarding chapter for our organisation."

SSI assured that it will work closely with employees, partners, and stakeholders to ensure a smooth and responsible transition.

Additional details regarding store timelines, promotions, and customer advisories ahead of the 2 May  closure will be shared in the coming months.
