7-Eleven opens 6,000th store in Taiwan

The country’s convenience channel has the highest market share in the world.

7-Eleven has reached another milestone in Taiwan, opening its 6,000th store in Kaohsiung's Fongshan District, IGD has reported.

The company has also been launching new vegetarian ready-to-eat items, as well as exclusive dishes designed by Michelin-starred chefs. The retailer is further boosting its City Cafe range by partnering Haagen-Dazs to launch exclusive co-branded smoothies.

At almost 29% of the grocery retail market, Taiwan’s convenience channel has the highest market share and penetration in the world. Growth also remains robust, forecast to grow at a CAGR of 3.5% to $11.9b by 2022, IGD noted.
