Shopee kicks off second 9.9 Mobile Shopping Day

Shopee will be holding its annual shopping event, 9.9 Mobile Shopping Day, on 9 September where a wide range of items will be on sale with discounts up to 90% off, as well as daily giveaways and themed sales in the 9-day lead up to 9.9 Mobile Shopping Day.

The e-commerce platform has partnered with leading brands, such as L’Oreal, Philips and Reckitt Benckiser, along with its official partners, including Singtel, Citibank and Agoda, to make 9.9 Mobile Shopping Day possible for the second year.

"Last year, our 9.9 Mobile Shopping Day experienced a five-fold increase in orders and a three-time surge in traffic on the platform regionally. Over 25,000 sellers participated in the festival and many of our top sellers received an increase in orders of up to 200 times their daily average across the region. This year, we’re looking forward to the continued participation of both our buyers and sellers as they join us in the biggest mobile shopping festival of the year,” said Zhou Junjie, chief commercial officer of Shopee.

The company’s data shows that the top searched categories on Shopee include Mobile & Gadgets, Health & Beauty and Home & Living. Plus, the most purchased items on the website are from the Mobile & Gadgets and Health & Beauty categories.

In the lead-up to its 9.9 Mobile Shopping Day, Shopee will be holding a 9-day countdown from 31 August. Customers can expect a variety of discounts including ‘Everything Under $9.90’ themed sales on categories such as Toys, Kids & Babies, Fashion and more.

Additionally, curated gift boxes consisting of some of Shopee’s popular products will be released at 12 midnight on 9 September. These packages come in three variations and are worth over $150 each, but will retail at $59.90 in limited quantities. There will also be 9.9 Flash Deals where customers can expect 9 hours of non-stop deals, commencing at 12 noon and refreshed every hour. Shopee will also be running its 99 cents sale where shoppers can purchase a wide array of products, ranging from facial masks to fidget spinners, at 99 cents.

Established in 2015, Shopee currently serves Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Taiwan.
