Carbonated soft drink sales expand in Thailand

This is driven by the country's warm and humid climate.

Thailand's beverage sector, particularly the carbonated soft drinks (CSD) category, has seen an unprecedented expansion in product choices, Kantar reported.

This is driven by the country's warm and humid climate which makes these beverages a top choice  for Thais seeking refreshment whilst on the go.

The report said leading industry players have introduced an array of new brands, flavors, and product segments, including options with no sugar, health-boosting ingredients, and enhanced taste profiles.

According to Kantar Worldpanel’s latest report, "Unveiling Thirst Trends in Thailand’s Carbonated Soft Drink Market," the significance of CSDs in the Thai market is substantial.

About 90% of urban consumers purchase CSDs for consumption outside their homes more than 22 times annually, spending over $0.54 per transaction.

The report also showed a growing demand for beverages with reduced or zero sugar that still deliver on taste.

In response to these trends, many CSD manufacturers are diversifying their offerings to meet evolving consumer preferences.

Innovation has become a crucial strategy for attracting and retaining customers, with a notable emphasis on functional carbonated soft drinks. This emerging segment, which includes CSDs with added vitamins and health benefits, is gaining traction and contributing to overall market growth.
