Conrad opens in Xiamen
Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Hilton’s smart luxury hotel brand, has opened Conrad Xiamen on the south-western coast of Xiamen Island. Owned by Shimao Group and managed by Hilton, Conrad Xiamen is the first Conrad hotel in Fujian province and the sixth in China among a portfolio that includes Conrad Hong Kong, Conrad Sanya Haitang Bay, Conrad Dalian, Conrad Macao and Conrad Beijing, and joins the larger Hilton portfolio of more than 70 hotels in China.

China has designs on fashion
As their industry shifts away from manufacturing to services and retail, Chinese consumers have embraced haute couture. Last year, China’s luxury spend reached US$16.8 billion, accounting for 20% of global luxury sales. Its expected sales will reach US$84 billion by 2020.
