Kopitiam Investment recognised for gamified dining campaign at Retail Asia Awards 2026
The initiative integrated score-to-win mechanics, location-based challenges, and limited-edition collectibles.
Kopitiam Investment Pte Ltd received the Marketing Initiative of the Year - Singapore accolade at the Retail Asia Awards 2026 for its Take Joyful Breaks with Kopitiam campaign, which introduced gamified dining across selected outlets. The campaign used a minimum spend mechanic that allowed customers to participate in score-to-win challenges, visit different Kopitiam locations, collect points, and redeem rewards.
The campaign was designed to turn regular meal purchases into a repeatable customer activity. Its location-based format encouraged customers to move across outlets instead of limiting participation to a single visit or transaction. Customers were able to improve their chances of winning by accumulating points, which supported higher return visits and cross-outlet traffic during the campaign period.
Kopitiam Investment Pte Ltd also used rewards to sustain participation. Limited-edition Kopitiam Signature Breakfast Family Plushie collectibles created urgency amongst customers, whilst premium prizes increased the value of joining the campaign. These incentives supported early participation, frequent visits, and social sharing, helping extend the campaign’s reach beyond in-store transactions.
The campaign delivered a $750,000 sales uplift, a five-fold return on investment, and more than 700,000 incremental transactions. It also contributed to higher average spending, increased repeat visitation, and stronger movement across the Kopitiam outlet network.
Through the initiative, Kopitiam Investment Pte Ltd applied gamification to a retail dining setting with a clear link between customer participation and business results. The campaign showed how score-based gameplay, outlet-to-outlet participation, and reward redemption could support engagement, sales, and traffic across a multi-outlet food service network.
