JD Super signs $69.7m deal with Australian beef suppliers
The move aims to cut out intermediaries and reduce prices.
JD Super, the supermarket arm of JD.com, has signed a $69.7m (RMB500m) procurement agreement with three major Australian beef suppliers: Coles, Bindaree Food Group, and Stanbroke.
The deal secures a large supply of premium beef products for the Chinese market and strengthens JD Super’s direct global sourcing strategy.
The agreement includes a range of beef products such as grass-fed, grain-fed, Angus, and Wagyu, all sourced directly from the producers.
The move aims to cut out intermediaries, reduce prices, and ensure fresher, high-quality meat for Chinese consumers.
Coles, with over 110 years in the industry, processes 500,000 cattle annually. Bindaree handles over 5,000 cattle weekly and is expanding its feedlot to 35,000 head. Stanbroke manages 1.2 million hectares of pastureland and supplies internationally certified beef.
By partnering with JD Super, the Australian suppliers gain direct access to JD.com’s 600 million users.
This allows them to build brand recognition in China, lower retail prices, and increase sales through JD’s digital tools and supply chain.
JD Super is the only e-commerce platform in China sourcing beef directly from Australia.
