GOLDEN ABC named Apparel Retailer of the Year - Philippines at Retail Asia Awards 2025

GOLDEN ABC—known more popularly as The Penshoppe Group—continues to focus on professionalisation, innovation, and sustainability, to elevate the Philippine fashion retail industry to global standards.

GOLDEN ABC (GABC) or the Penshoppe Group—the retailer behind well-loved fashion brands PENSHOPPE, OXGN, REGATTA, FORME, MEMO, and BOCU, earned recognition at the Retail Asia Awards 2025.

Since 1986, GABC has grown into a major force in the fashion retail industry, having over 1,000 stores and 6,000 employees. With its purposeful vision to “build brands for the world,” the global enterprise has delivered stylish, high-quality, and accessible fashion for all, whilst evolving at the same time to successfully navigate through changing customer needs and industry disruption.

With sustained growth coming out of the pandemic, GABC has demonstrated both resilience and clarity in its long-term strategy, even amid challenging times. By staying attuned to customer needs and continuously refining its product offerings, the company has successfully driven stronger engagement and sales.

GABC’s efforts—driven by its commitment to continuously respond to evolving customer demands—have earned it a place among the Top 1,000 Philippine Corporations, according to a study by BusinessWorld. This is alongside multiple accolades from awarding bodies. The company also ranks amongst the top 300 employers in the Philippines, based on rankings presented by the Philippine Daily Inquirer and Statista, and holds the top spot in the clothing, shoes, and sports equipment category for 2025.

In the last year, its brands have focussed on sharpening its unique identities, which has made it more relevant to its diverse markets. GABC also expanded into more online platforms, reaching more customers across Southeast Asia.

GABC further enhanced convenience by launching a Buy Online, Pick Up In-Store (BOPIS) option. This has made it easier for shoppers to move between online and offline experiences.

Meanwhile, as part of its long-term strategy, GABC has strengthened its leadership team with global C-suite executives. The company also underwent a two-year leadership transition that introduced a new CEO. The former CEO, meanwhile, now serves as Executive Chairman.

GABC’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its operations. Its Manila office now runs entirely on renewable energy and is expected to cut 2,500 metric tons of CO2 in two years. This is equivalent to taking over 550 cars off the road annually. Moreover, rainwater recycling systems across offices and its distribution centre save over one million gallons of water each year.

In stores, GABC is reducing waste through smarter inventory management and eco-friendly packaging. Paper bags now use soy-based ink, and 40% of Penshoppe’s online orders are delivered in self-destructing plastic, with plans to extend this to all brands.

“At GOLDEN ABC, our vision to build brands for the world challenges us to think long-term, elevate our capabilities, and constantly evolve how we serve our customers,” said Alice Liu, President and CEO of GOLDEN ABC. “By doing well as a business, we create the opportunity to do more good — and this is at the very heart of our purpose to Inspire Greatness. These recognitions are a reflection of the passion and discipline our teams bring as we continue charting GOLDEN ABC’s path forward, both at home and on the global stage.”

By combining smart innovation, strong leadership, and a commitment to sustainability, GOLDEN ABC is not just keeping up with the times—it is shaping the future of fashion retail.

With a growing international presence, the company remains committed to delivering fashion with purpose.
