Robotic process automation gains traction amongst retailers

Discussions amongst retailers grew 52% in 2022.

Retailers saw a 52% growth in the discussions of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) across filings in 2022 compared with 2021, GlobalData reported. 

Across all sectors, more than 600 companies tackled RPA between the first and third quarter of 2022. 

“As more retail companies are transforming their business processes to the RPA system so that tasks are performed more quickly, with minimum errors and reduced expenses, we have seen an increase in the number of retail companies discussing RPA in their filings,” Ekta Chourasia, Business Fundamentals Analyst at GlobalData, said.

According to Chourasia, companies in the Automotive and Consumer indicated greater efficiency when it utilised RPA. 

Vertu Motors mentioned its application of RPA in smart repair ordering, vehicle administration, payment receipts and customer refunds. 

“RPA in financial services is focusing on automating processes like daily report generation, ATM reconciliation, and payment settlement,” Chourasia said.

“Some of the financial services have also mentioned stop debit, insurance deregistration and savings account openings through RPA.”
