UNIQLO Japan same-store sales drop 14%YoY in February

Total sales, including online sales, also declined 11.4%

UNIQLO Japan reported its same-store sales declined by 14% year-on-year in February, whilst total sales including online sales decreased by 11.4% in the same month.

“Same-store sales declined year on year in February as sales of newly launched Spring ranges struggled in the face of persistently cold weather throughout the month,” the retailer said in its report.

In January, UNIQLO Japan also saw its same-store sales slip by 7.1% due to a lack of inventory of thermal clothing and insufficient promotion sales during the sales period. Total sales including sales made online also decreased by 6.3%.

Over the same period, UNIQLO Japan also reported two closures and zero openings. This brings UNIQLO Japan’s closures to 20 since September 2021.

Meanwhile, the retailer has seen 12 store openings between September and October.
