Charlton Media Group acquires Retail Asia magazine from NYCU Media

Charlton Media Group has acquired Retail Asia, the leading B2B trade magazine for the retail industry in Asia-Pacific from NYCU Media. Since 1991 Retail Asia has been the much respected go-to magazine and website for retail industry leaders, and is the home of the Retail Asia-Pacific Top 500 Awards.

Retail Asia has a wonderful heritage and deep connections in the retail industry,” said publisher Tim Charlton. “We very much respect the brand equity and audience relationships and will continue building on the tradition of the magazine, which was helmed by veteran publisher Andrew Yeo since 1991.”

Charlton outlined plans to increase the number of events under the Retail Asia brand including launching a roadshow series in Jakarta, Manila, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok. “In addition, we plan to expand the Retail Asia-Pacific Awards as well as summits in Singapore and Hong Kong and the Top 500 list,” said Charlton.

“I very much appreciate how much time, care, attention and ultimately passion for the retail industry that Andrew put into Retail Asia and that as we dive deeper into the industry we will continue that legacy,” added Charlton.

Charlton Media publishes a number of industry titles including Asian Banking & Finance, Insurance Asia, Healthcare Asia and Asian Power, in addition to city business titles such as Singapore Business Review and Hong Kong Business.

In parting, Andrew said: “We look forward to see Retail Asia continuing its mission of providing news retailers can use and bringing together once again Asian retailers each year to recognise, honour and celebrate best practices in retailing in the Asia-Pacific region.

“I wish Tim and his team at Charlton Media all the very best going forward in 2020 and beyond.”
