Rakuten, Bibian partner to expand secondhand luxury market in Taiwan
It is available through the Taiwan FamilyMart app.
Rakuten Group, Inc. has teamed up with Bibian, a subsidiary of Taiwan’s PChome Online Group, to offer second-hand luxury goods and fashion items from Rakuten Rakuma’s Official Shops on the Bibian Japan Second-Hand Goods platform.
Bibian, a major cross-border e-commerce service in Taiwan, enables users to purchase international products through the FamilyMart app.
In June, it launched Bibian Japan, allowing users to buy Japanese goods. Now, with the launch of the Bibian Japan Second-Hand Goods service, second-hand fashion and luxury items from Rakuma Official Shops will be available to Taiwanese customers.
The Taiwan FamilyMart app, with 18 million members, allows users to access the service without needing a separate app. All fees, including international shipping, will be paid in a single transaction, simplifying the purchasing process.
Rakuma Official Shops, launched in 2022, allows second-hand clothing and luxury item sellers to operate on Rakuten Rakuma’s platform.
The platform has seen a surge in demand, especially for Japanese second-hand items, which are prized for their quality and variety. International sales in the fashion category have grown nearly 90% year-over-year.
Bibian’s target demographic, primarily women in their 30s and 40s, is also expected to respond well to the availability of high-quality pre-owned luxury fashion.
