Taiwan’s Gong cha inks 2 master franchisees in the Americas

This will support its expansion in the region by over 100 stores.

Taiwan-based bubble tea brand Gong cha signed two new master franchisees to to award territory rights in the Great Pacific Northwest and Central America, expanding its stores by more than 100 in the region.

In a statement, Gong cha said the master franchise rights for the Great Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon and Idaho) were signed with Ajay Keshap.

Meanwhile, the Central American master franchise was awarded to husband and wife Justin Willingham and Monica Fonseca who will start opening stores in Honduras before venturing into Costa Rica, El Salvador and Guatemala.

The couple are expected to open one to two locations in early 2024 and open 50 stores over the next decade.

Gong cha Americas has opened over 400 locations in the US, Canada and Mexico since 2014. It has already franchised 65% of available territory in the US. It also targets to reach 1,000 stores in the region by 2026.
