SM Supermalls foot traffic increases to over 4 million daily
It is driven by enhanced mall activities and diverse experiences.
Philippines’ SM Supermalls reported an average of over 4 million daily visitors in the first quarter of 2024, up from 3.3 million in the same period last year.
The growth is driven by enhanced mall activities and a commitment to providing diverse and engaging experiences for visitors.
“The increase in foot traffic reflects our steadfast commitment to meeting the daily needs and wants of our customers,” said SM Supermalls President Steven Tan. “Our malls serve as dynamic hubs that blend modern retail services with vibrant entrepreneurial environments."
Currently, food tenants make up 30% of leased mall spaces, an increase from 10% a decade ago. Non-food tenants, including entertainment providers, occupy 50% of the spaces, complemented by various service-related tenants to offer a diverse range of options.
Recent additions such as the Space & Time Cube+ at S Maison, an immersive art museum with themed attractions, and Cosplay City at SM City Fairview, a hub for anime and toy enthusiasts, have contributed to the surge in visitors.
SM Supermalls also supports fan communities by providing platforms for K-pop, anime, and other fan gatherings, fostering a vibrant and inclusive environment.
Additionally, the flagship Game Park at SM Mall of Asia, launched in November 2023, features a 1,947 square meter indoor entertainment complex. It includes amenities such as a bowling alley, basketball court, e-darts, and an indoor archery range, catering to a wide range of interests.
