Luckin Coffee taps Stripe to drive expansion in Singapore, Malaysia
This enables local payment methods such as GrabPay, PayNow, and FPX.
Luckin Coffee has partnered with Stripe to support its international expansion, starting with Singapore and Malaysia.
The Chinese coffee chain integrated Stripe’s payment infrastructure in just one month, enabling local payment methods such as GrabPay, PayNow, FPX, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. The system ensures a consistent and fast checkout experience across both markets.
Luckin, which operates on a mobile-first model in China, said it needed a flexible and localised payment system to adapt to Southeast Asia’s varied consumer habits. Stripe also provided regulatory guidance and market insights to support a smooth market entry.
The move comes as Southeast Asia’s specialty coffee market, worth $4.4b in 2023, continues to grow, with demand expected to rise by 8% annually through 2028.
