IKEA unveils revamped store in Shibuya
New features include the "IKEA Fanshop" and the "Interactive Room Design" installation.
IKEA Japan has officially reopened its Shibuya store after a major renovation.
The store, originally opened in November 2020 to improve accessibility for the Shibuya community, now features a redesigned layout inspired by Swedish culture.
The updated store includes two large exterior monitors displaying IKEA’s products and seasonal content, and each floor is color-coded—pink, blue, light green, yellow, orange, red, and green—with a design reflecting Shibuya’s skyline.
The store's layout now includes dedicated sections such as "Living Room & Dining Room”, "Kitchen", "Office", and "Bedroom & Bathroom”.
New features include 29 vignettes and 8 room settings that offer practical solutions for urban living, focusing on space efficiency and affordability.
A new "Take-home Furniture" section allows customers to pick up items immediately, and approximately 2,700 items will be available in-store, with around 1,700 items for immediate take-home.
The store will integrate online and physical shopping experiences, with features like "Scan & Pay" and "IKEA Kreativ" available through the IKEA app. An in-store pickup service for online purchases will be offered for a flat rate of 300 yen.
Notable new features include the "IKEA Fanshop", showcasing iconic IKEA products, the "Interactive Room Design" installation, which allows visitors to explore virtual rooms on a curved LED screen, as well as a new Location Based AR experience.
The renovation reflects IKEA’s commitment to enhancing everyday life with affordable and innovative home solutions.
