IKEA opens first small-format store in eastern Beijing
The 1,500-square-meter outlet is in Wangfujing WellTown mall in Tongzhou District.
Ingka Group, the largest IKEA retailer, has opened its first small-format store in eastern Beijing.
The 1,500-square-metre outlet is located in the Wangfujing WellTown shopping centre in Tongzhou District.
It is the company’s fifth store in Beijing and carries more than 3,000 home furnishing products.
The store also provides in-person planning support from staff and includes a limited food section.
The launch is part of a wider rollout by Ingka Group, which has added 21 new locations globally since the start of the year.
These stores vary in size from a few hundred to over 4,000 sq m and are being opened across Europe, North America, and Asia, with additional openings planned in the coming months.
The expansion is funded under Ingka Group’s $5.8b (€5b) three-year investment to open new outlets and upgrade existing ones across most of its 32 markets.
