Siam Piwat launches NEXTOPIA sustainability-focused retail concept space

It spans about 15,000 square meters inside Siam Paragon in Bangkok.

Siam Piwat Group has launched NEXTOPIA, a new retail concept designed to embed sustainability directly into everyday shopping experiences.

Located at Siam Paragon, NEXTOPIA is described as a global prototype for sustainable retail, aiming to turn eco-friendly living into an interactive and practical experience.

Launched in November 2025, the 15,000-square-meter space receives over 200,000 daily visitors and focuses on making sustainability engaging and accessible.

NEXTOPIA is built on three pillars, namely co-creation with partners, collaboration with tenants and communities, and customer participation.

Developed with more than 50 partners, including B.Grimm, SCG, Indorama Ventures, and Kasikornbank, the project incorporates renewable energy, sustainable materials, and advanced environmental technologies.

The project reports major sustainability gains, including zero waste to landfill, 47% lower energy use, 34% reduced water consumption, and 59% lower carbon emissions from materials. It is also certified EDGE Advanced and Fitwel-rated for building health.

Tenants must follow around 50 sustainability standards covering waste and supply chains. The framework was developed over three years to accelerate adoption of greener practices.

The site features interactive installations, including kinetic floors and energy-generating bicycles, allowing visitors to actively contribute to sustainability efforts. It also houses ECOTOPIA, an eco-focused retail space, offering over 110,000 sustainable products sourced from around 300 local communities and small businesses.

NEXTOPIA also partners with global groups including the United Nations, World Food Programme, UNDP Biofin, and World Wide Fund for Nature.

More than a retail destination, NEXTOPIA is envisioned as a “living laboratory” for sustainable development, offering a scalable model for global adoption.

The project was introduced by CEO Chadatip Chutrakul during The Economist Sustainability Week Asia in Bangkok.

“Sustainability is no longer optional,” she said. “Real, lasting impact is never created alone. It requires co-creation across industries, united by purpose, in a place that captures the world’s attention and inspires change for the greater good.”

The launch comes amidst increasing global pressure for companies to meet environmental commitments under the Paris Agreement, as consumers and regulators demand greater accountability.
