Hermès fuses Japanese motifs in Osaka reopening
The store is now spread across two levels.
Hermès has reopened its renovated and expanded boutique at Hilton Plaza East in Osaka, introducing a larger two-level store showcasing all sixteen métiers in a redesigned space inspired by local culture and nature.
The store features a new façade made of sculpted ceramic tiles referencing the stone walls of Osaka’s castle moat, paired with kumihimo-inspired woven screens that filter natural light into the interior.
Designed by RDAI, the boutique uses a mix of geometric forms, mineral textures, and color contrasts to create distinct retail zones across two floors.
The first level houses silk, leather goods, beauty, accessories, and menswear, whilst the lower level includes women’s ready-to-wear, shoes, home collections, equestrian items, jewelry, and watches.
The store windows, created by French artist Matthieu Cossé, feature celestial and Osaka-inspired scenes aligned with Hermès’ 2026 theme, “The Call of the Sea.”
Inside, artworks from the Émile Hermès collection and contemporary photography selections enrich the space. Highlights include equine studies by artist Jean-Louis Sauvat and seascape photography by Clément Chapillon.
