Shangri-La Plaza Corporation wins two awards at Retail Asia Awards 2026
The company was recognised for its transformation into a modern lifestyle and wellness hub in Metro Manila.
Shangri-La Plaza Corporation won Mall Initiative of the Year - Philippines and Health & Wellness Initiative of the Year - Philippines in the Retail Asia Awards 2026. The company earned the accolades for projects that repositioned its retail space through alfresco dining and community wellness.
Outdoor dining reinvented
The Streetscape project transformed the mall's frontage into a curated outdoor culinary destination. Under the theme Street, Eat, Escape, the initiative addressed the demand for open-air environments whilst integrating greenery and pedestrian-friendly design. The launch used an immersive food crawl and live entertainment to encourage social interaction.
This development led to a 28% increase in food and beverage performance. Streetscape tenants accounted for 26% of total category sales and drove 88% of its overall growth, contributing to increased revenue. Between January and April 2025, mall visitation rose by 35.1%. The project also generated substantial PR value through media coverage and influencer engagement.
The success of the Streetscape project earned the company the Mall Initiative of the Year - Philippines category.
Indoor wellness walkathon
In the wellness sector, the company introduced STRIDE: Walkathon At The Shang. This initiative utilised the indoor mall space as a safe and accessible destination for movement amidst the rainy season and the car-centric environment of the business district. The event targeted young professionals, families, and seniors who sought a secure environment for physical activity.
The walkathon attracted 320 participants and generated notable registration revenue. It contributed to a 90% year-on-year increase in both sales and foot traffic by converting wellness activity into extended dwell time. The programme achieved substantial PR media value through national print and digital platforms.
The initiative was recognised in the Health & Wellness Initiative of the Year – Philippines category for this remarkable achievement.
