Primer Group of Companies wins at Retail Asia Awards 2026

A new digital application unifies fragmented loyalty programmes and multi-step checkout processes into a single secure scan.

The Primer Group of Companies won the Payment Solution of the Year - Singapore category in the Retail Asia Awards 2026. The company secured the accolade through its strategic collaboration with Mastercard to launch PrimerStar at Funan, Singapore, on 5 February 2026.

PrimerStar represents the first live deployment of Mastercard’s Next-Generation Point-of-Interaction (NGP) experience within the Asia-Pacific region. Traditional retail operations in Singapore often face checkout fragmentation whilst consumers navigate physical cards, multiple brand applications, and separate payment processes. The new solution addresses these inefficiencies by consolidating customer recognition, rewards application, and final payment into one dynamic QR code scan.

The application operates across the diverse lifestyle brands of the Primer Group of Companies, which include Hydro Flask, TOMS, Herschel, and Allbirds. It establishes a cross-brand loyalty system where the NGP engine simultaneously identifies user profiles, applies eligible rewards, and processes secure transactions. This system uses Mastercard data capabilities to provide personalised rewards during the interaction.

Backed by global security infrastructure, the single-scan architecture reduces checkout durations to help retailers handle higher transaction volumes during peak shopping hours. It protects financial details through dynamic QR codes and secure tokenisation. Headquartered in Manila with operations in seven countries, the Primer Group of Companies possesses the operational scale to deploy this system across its network of over 450 stores.

The platform generated over SG$5,200 in gross revenue within the first 25 days of its launch. It also achieved an average order value of SG$164.54 and successfully processed 32 orders since its debut. By automating loyalty and payment reconciliation, the platform assists retailers in reducing operational overheads so store associates can focus on customer service.
