Siam Paragon launches THB850m sustainable retail building
NEXTOPIA will use renewable energy and carry 300 SME retailers, amongst others.
Siam Paragon launched NEXTOPIA, a multi-level retail building that was touted to be made with co-creation and proritises sustainability.
NEXTOPIA represents an investment of over THB850m ($34.4m) and spans more than 15,000 square metres on its fifth floor.
The retail space was co-founded with 50 principal partners such as B.Grimm, SCG Decor Public Company Limited, Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited, KASIKORNBANK Public Company Limited, and The Siam Cement Public Company Limited, amongst others.
The building will use renewable energy as Siam Paragon is Thailand’s first retail group to source 30% of its electricity from Siam Piwat Group, the retail firm said.
It will carry 40 brands and 300 small and medium enterprises (SMEs), it added.
NEXTOPIA, the first retail space in Thailand to earn a Fitwel two-star certification, will use floors with natural cooling, a 16-metre waterfall across three levels, and an air conditioning system with cleaning technologies.
The retail space also uses paint with low chemical emissions and was constructed with recyclable metal.
