Crocs and Mosaic Brands settle lawsuit over shoe design

Mosaic will discontinue the production and sale of the disputed footwear styles and similar designs by year-end.

Crocs, Inc. and Mosaic Brands Limited have reached a settlement in their lawsuit heard by the Federal Court of Australia. 

The lawsuit was initiated by Crocs, accusing Mosaic of infringing on its intellectual property rights through the sale of certain molded foam shoes.

Crocs, known for its Classic Clog sold in over 85 countries and is protected by trademark registrations in more than 30 nations, filed the case in late 2021 after discovering Mosaic’s similar footwear.

The settlement was reached without any admissions of liability from either party. Whilst the specific terms remain confidential, Mosaic has agreed to cease the production and sale of the disputed molded footwear styles and similar styles by the end of the year.

"We are pleased that we were able to resolve this dispute amicably, avoiding the need for further expenditure of time and resources by either party on this litigation,” the companies jointly stated.
