Suntory Holdings launches low carbon sugarcane farming project in Thailand

This supports the company’s goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% across its value chain by 2030.

It aims to implement regenerative agricultural practices to reduce carbon emissions.

Suntory Holdings has initiated a three-year low carbon farming project for sugarcane in Thailand.

The initiative is in collaboration with the VIVE Programme, a leading voluntary sustainability program in ingredient and energy supply chains, and Kaset Thai International Sugar Corporation Public Co Ltd (KTIS), one of Thailand's foremost sugar producers.

The program, sponsored by Suntory Holdings, focuses on scalable low carbon farming methods identified by KTIS and VIVE experts.

The initiative is also a step towards Suntory Group's goal of a 30% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2030, based on a 2019 baseline.

Additionally, the project supports KTIS and its farms in adopting sustainable practices, contributing to Suntory's efforts to develop environmentally friendly supply chains.

“Suntory is deeply committed to enhancing resiliency and minimizing emissions throughout our agricultural supply chains, while simultaneously uplifting the livelihoods of farmers,” said Brian Golden, senior general manager of Global Supply Solutions at Suntory Holdings.

“To achieve this goal, we are collaborating with various partners on pioneering programs that embody innovation and sustainability in the agricultural sector,” he added.
