AS Watson is first health and beauty retailer signatory under UN Women initative

The Women's Empowerment Principles aims to foster gender equity and women's empowerment.

AS Watson has become a signatory of the Women's Empowerment Principles, the first health and beauty retailer to be a participant in the initiative.

The Women's Empowerment Principles is a global movement under UN Women (United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment) committed to advancing gender equity and women's empowerment.

Through the movement, AS Watson has committed to programmes that foster a workplace, marketplace, and community that promote inclusivity and opportunities for women through their mantra “The New Beautiful”.

The beauty retailer has demonstrated its commitment to women’s empowerment with the Operation Smile in the Women in Medicine programme, leading to 30 female plastic surgeons trained, as well as all-women educational programmes and specialty trainings.

For International Women’s Day, AS Watson and 12 other retail brands will launch a series of women empowerment activities under the theme “Inspire Inclusion”.

“At AS Watson, we are dedicated to empowering women to be more beautiful and confident. With over 80% of our 160 million members and over 70% of our 130,000 colleagues being women, our top priority is to inspire and support every woman to become the best version of themselves,” Malina Ngai, CEO of AS Watson - Asia & Europe, said.
