iPay88 to secure MyCyberSale 2017 payments

Malaysia’s online payment gateway provider iPay88, an NTT Data company, will be the premier payment gateway partner for the country’s annual MyCyberSale.

MyCyberSale 2017 is Malaysia’s 4th annual online sale from 9 to 13 October 2017 and this year is set to be the biggest one to date as it is returning on a larger scale with at least 1,000 participating e-tailers and merchants.

The initiative is a collaboration between the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and PIKOM, which is the National ICT Association of Malaysia. It aims at providing a platform to lure SMEs and micro e-retailers to be a part of the e-commerce eco-system and contribute to the domestic and export revenue. Acting as a catalyst to boost the online shopping culture in Malaysia, MyCyberSale also aims to generate online shopping demand from consumers.

Chan Kok Long, executive director of iPay88, shared: “This five-day sale event will be another record breaking year for online sales with the target of RM300 million (US$70.3 million) set out by PIKOM, the main organiser of this virtual sale this year.” Chan is also the councillor and e-commerce Malaysia deputy chair for PIKOM.

iPay88 said it recorded a significant spike of 65% in cyber shopping transactions via its payment gateway systems during the MyCyberSale sales period in 2016, from RM21.6 million in 2015 to RM35.6 million in 2016. Amongst the popular categories were accessories and jewellery (over RM12.5 million), apparel and footwear (over RM1.5 million), and group-buying (over RM450,000).

This year, MyCyberSale 2017 will also see participation of key marketplace players apart from the support of partner associations such as Malaysian Retail Chan Association (MRCA), SME Association, Malaysian Wholesale Federation, and the Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), as well as logistics and fulfilment providers.

The event also named Commerce.Asia as its pinnacle e-commerce platform partner and roped in SF Express as its premier logistics partner.
