E-commerce platform Temu launches in the Philippines

Temu will have to compete with e-commerce giants such as Shopee and Lazada.

Online marketplace Temu has launched in the Philippines, marking its expansion in Southeast Asia.

Boston-based Temu was founded in 2022. It is owned by Chinese firm PDD Holdings, also the parent company of Chinese online retailer Pinduoduo.

Temu will join Sea Limited’s Shopee and Lazada, amongst others in the growing e-commerce market in the Philippines.

Southeast Asia’s e-commerce sales are expected to reach $166b by 2026, according to a report by Euromonitor International.
