Central Pattana brings home two awards at Retail Asia Awards 2026
The company gets recognised for its sustainable development in Krabi and its innovative urban park integration in Bangkok.
Central Pattana won Eco-Friendly Mall of the Year - Thailand and New Mall of the Year - Thailand in the Retail Asia Awards 2026. The company received the accolades for its Central Krabi and Central Park Bangkok projects, which demonstrate a commitment to environmental responsibility and urban liveability.
The company won the Eco-Friendly Mall of the Year - Thailand award for two consecutive years. In Krabi, Central Krabi is the first shopping center in Thailand to pursue EDGE Zero Certification. It achieves more than 40% energy savings compared to conventional developments. The project features 14,400 square metres of solar panels that generate 3.2 megawatts of renewable energy. This marks the highest solar capacity across the portfolio of Central Pattana.
Central Krabi follows a concept titled Made by Krabi, which incorporates circular design principles. Construction involved repurposing discarded fishing nets into roof decorations and crushing seashell waste to create signage. Agricultural innovation appears in the form of rice husk rattan, a bio-composite material used for architectural structures. Recycled glass bottles also form terrazzo finishes for seating areas, whilst furniture incorporates hybrid cement to reduce carbon emissions by 21%.
The company launched Central Park Bangkok as a new world-class landmark, seamlessly integrating urban life and park life to elevate people’s wellbeing. It features the largest elevated roof park in Thailand, spanning 11,200 square metres. This green space extends the natural environment of Lumpini Park into the retail ecosystem. It includes an 800-metre jogging track, wellness zones, and an amphitheatre to enhance urban infrastructure in the central business district.
During the launch period, Central Park attracted 235,000 visits over four days. Tenant sales reached $3.12m during this period, which exceeded targets by 23%. The project also supports local street vendors through the Neighborhood Soul initiative, which integrates them into the mall ecosystem to preserve local identity whilst creating shared economic value.
