Daraz launches AI ChatBot AskDaraz

This will improve customer experience as it offers personalised recommendations.

E-commerce platform Daraz launched an artificial intelligence chatbot, AskDaraz, allowing South Asian consumers to discuss and get offer personalised shopping recommendations.

In a statement, Daraz said the chatbot powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT will improve the shopping experience on the platform as this analyses user requirements and sifts through the millions of products to come up with personalised recommendations.

“This in turn bridges the gap between offline and online shopping by providing high-quality conversational and engaging experiences that consumers are used to,” it said.

Daraz added that brands and sellers can use the chatbot to raise product visibility and get access to new audiences.

“By leveraging the increasing smartphone adoption rate in our markets and Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service in our app, 'AskDaraz' will make the shopping experience intuitive for more users to transact with us,” said Daraz Group CEO Bjarke Mikkelsen.
