APAC e-commerce sales down by nearly 3% YoY
E-commerce sales growth has slowed down globally.
Global e-commerce sales rose by 8% year-on-year but the growth is slowing compared to the 16% increase last year, with sales in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region declining by 2.8%, according to a report by Nielsen IQ.
APAC is the only region that posted a decline following a 7.1% growth last year.
Sales in Western Europe were flat with a 0.3% growth compared to the 12.4% increase last year.
“That’s not to say that e-commerce is a declining opportunity — it’s a warning signal that consumers are allocating post-pandemic needs differently across channels,” according to Nielsen IQ.

“Make sure your business is adapting to this moderated pace of growth, leveraging the broadest picture of omni-retail performance to offset any slow or leveling e-commerce sales. E-commerce can’t remain the sole focus of retail’s long-term growth strategy,” it added.
E-commerce sales in North America jumped by 15.1% but are slower than the 21.9% growth last year. Eastern Europe’s sales also increased by 38.8%, lower than 95.1% rise previously.
