Alibaba ties up with Belgian government to promote Belgian exports

The company will provide assistance to Belgian SMEs on its platform.

Alibaba has signed an agreement with the Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX), a Belgian government trade agency, to jointly promote exports from Belgian sellers through digitisation, the company said in a news release.

Alibaba will provide training and assistance to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Belgium on its business-to-business online marketplace to help them export their products. The cooperation falls under the Electronic World Trade Platform framework that the Belgium government and Alibaba jointly launched in 2018 to promote trade.

The cooperation between Alibaba.com and AWEX seeks to help Belgian SMEs reach customers worldwide, increase production and diversify income streams, said Andrew Zheng, Deputy General Manager of Alibaba.com.
