Melandas Indonesia powers through with the Furniture Retailer of the Year award at the Retail Asia Awards 2022

Its ‘La-Z-Boy Weekend Comfort Programme’ and dynamic expansions helped Melandas win the top award.

Top Indonesian retailer company Melandas has been the exclusive operator of La-Z-Boy in Indonesia. Taking an interesting spin on the experience often associated with this brand, it launched the La-Z-Boy Weekend Comfort Programme in 2020 letting customers use the recliner for free on weekends.

The team sent out La-Z-Boy recliners to customers who registered for the programme. The customers were then able to try the La-Z-Boy comfort on the weekend, specifically on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The Weekend Comfort programme provides La-Z-Boy recliners to more than 50 households in Greater Area Jakarta and provides the customers with the comfort they deserve.

There are two options given out to the customers. On Mondays, when the Melandas team collects the La-Z-Boy recliners back, they can either send them back or opt to purchase the La-Z-Boy at their houses without the need to go out.

This wasn’t the only project the company took on in the recent year. With the pandemic in mind, it took into consideration the changing conditions in the market.

According to Melandas, it noticed that customers were reluctant to go to retail stores. As an answer, it created a Virtual Showroom to cater for those who prefer to view their merchandise remotely.

The Virtual Showroom by Melandas enables customers with virtual tours of the showroom, emanating its ambience and display whilst also interacting with a wide range of collections.

By visiting the Melandas website, customers are guided to check out the Virtual Tour directly.

In 2021 Melandas Indonesia also expanded and opened four brand new stores for various brands of furniture in various locations.

These stores were opened under the Natuzzi Italia, Natuzzi Editions, and Melandas Multibrand Store.

The company added that this is following the commitment of Melandas to enhance the experience of in-person shopping for those who would like to try and feel the furniture that they will own, which is something that online or digital could not provide.

For these projects, the company was given the Furniture Retailer of the Year – Indonesia award in the recently concluded 17th Retail Asia Awards. It is a prestigious annual event that gathers the region's best retailers and recognises the most outstanding retail initiatives.

In giving this award, it took into consideration two of its achievements.

First is that it was considered the biggest furniture retailer in Indonesia with 23 stores, in the form of Mono brand store, multi-brand store, and Department Store.

Second is that it was also recognised as the Indonesian furniture retailer with the biggest expansion in 2021.

In 2021, Melandas opened two new stores of Natuzzi Editions located at Jakarta Design Center and at Plaza Indonesia, a shopping mall that serves the most premium market in Indonesia. Its aim is to serve the customers with alternatives to owning stylish and comfortable furniture at home at an affordable price.

Melandas also opened its second multi-brand store located in Kemang Area, South Jakarta with an area of over 600sqm with four brands listed: La-Z-Boy, Eichholtz, Cattelan Italia, and Natuzzi Editions.
