Bairaha Farms PLC wins at FMCG Asia Awards for the superior browsing experience offered to shoppers through its revamped website

The pioneer chicken processor in Sri Lanka for over four decades Bairaha Farms Plc was honoured as the winner of the Digitalization Initiative of the year in Sri Lanka 2022 at the FMCG Asia awards.

Whilst the company maintains a steady domestic market share along with its loyal base of households, Institutions, hoteliers, and eateries that purchase chicken and value-added products, the move to revamp its website and its shopping portal was undoubtedly aimed towards simplifying the browsing and purchasing process for customers to do their poultry shopping online, with ease.

During the last couple of years, the Sri Lankan consumer faced difficulties in purchasing their products amidst the constant lockdowns brought upon by external factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic and most recently the economic issues which prevailed.

The once dormant and mildly active website became the feature which was most timely and this led to the company making the necessary steps to bridge the gap for this need.

This led the company to introduce a shop-in-shop concept, where the company gave a seamless shopping experience to the consumer to pick up their produce and offered free delivery services within 24 hours. It also opened a channel where the company provided a teleprompting service (focusing purely on households) and focused on the areas where it got the most inquiries and orders for deliveries. A personalised service delivery was provided for free even if the orders were small.

With this undertaking, Bairaha Farms also revamped its website to facilitate the growing demand. The site is accessible on any device, with know-hows provided through its recipes, blogs, amongst others. It also allows customers to create their own accounts, shop online, and expect delivery within a specified time as customers can now freely browse through Bairaha Farms’ products.

The company’s capabilities in adapting through the uncertain environment by undergoing digitalisation have been recognised by the FMCG Asia Awards, as it receives the Digitalization Initiative of the Year - Sri Lanka award.

The prestigious awards programme celebrates the most outstanding companies in the Asia Pacific FMCG industry that have shown exemplary performance with their innovative products and initiatives.
