AEON clinches Digital Initiative of the Year - Malaysia at Retail Asia Awards
Over 800,000 customers have registered in its iAEON platform.
Retail group AEON bagged the win in the Digital Initiative of the Year - Malaysia category at the esteemed Retail Asia Awards 2024 for its integrated platform iAEON that helped the company adapt to the demand for online, interactive transactions from both partners and customers.
The iAEON platform connects the entire retail ecosystem including suppliers, service providers, employees, and tenants, as well as B2C and B2B customers. It serves as a comprehensive solution for online e-commerce, offering click-and-collect functionality through its e-commerce module. Additionally, vital information regarding pandemic protocols, product availability, and promotions is provided through the loyalty application.
It also has a supplier portal, which allows users to engage in online transactions facilitated by an electronic data interchange system for purchase orders, receiving, returns, and invoices. The support provided by this feature includes sales data sharing and e-contracts, catering to both trade and non-trade suppliers.
Another feature of the iAEON platform is the employee self-service application, which has enabled remote work and business continuity during nationwide lockdowns, even at locations distant from the headquarters, enhancing AEON’s last-mile operational capabilities.
During the first year of iAEON platform deployment, both employees and business partners have seamlessly transitioned to remote work, maintaining daily operations without disruption. Crucially, the platform has effectively met customer demands for online and offline shopping experiences.
By 2023, the iAEON platform successfully onboarded over 5,000 trade and non-trade suppliers to the supplier portal, with over 90% of transactions conducted electronically. Additionally, the iAEON loyalty app and e-commerce site attracted more than 800,000 customers, including 500 regular B2B clients for wholesale purchases. Within the same period, over 5,000 mall tenants and 10,000 employees actively utilised the platform to support their daily operations.
“The iAEON platform was built based on a dynamic environment that can be easily upgraded and scaled up without any major disruption. Since the initial launch day, the platform has gone through many rounds of system enhancements and customisations to meet the business and partners' requirements, especially in terms of the latest technology updates and cybersecurity risks,” the company said.
This year, it continues to release new modules and versions for the ecosystem and its business partners, including technology upgrades, without any additional costs. Such efforts are part of an ongoing initiative to support digital transformation within its ecosystem partners and to contribute to nationwide digital transformation at a grassroots level.
