ACE Hardware bags two wins at Retail Asia Awards
The hardware store launched a campaign that positively impacts customers, communities, employees, and the environment.
Hardware store company ACE Hardware Philippines clinched two category wins at the recently held Retail Asia Awards for the success of its "We Can Help" campaign, and its sustainability initiatives under the said campaign.
The “We Can Help” campaign is a collection of initiatives that positively impact customers, communities, employees, and the environment. ACE Hardware wanted to take its tagline “The Helpful Place” to a whole new level, which led to the launch of the campaign in December 2021.
Under “We Can Help,” ACE Hardware embarked on a campaign in partnership with SM Retail to promote a sustainable lifestyle and highlight eco-friendly products. This campaign was later known as “Green Finds.”
To achieve the goals of this campaign, ACE Hardware set up pop-up displays in selected branches to showcase over 100 sustainable products ranging from organic plant mediums to energy and water-saving devices. The company also transitioned to biodegradable bags and encouraged customers to use the newly redesigned reusable bags.
ACE Hardware’s sustainability initiatives were recognised as the winner of the ESG Initiative of the Year - Philippines in the mentioned awards programme.
Aside from this, the hardware store also reinforced its core proposition to its customers by conducting a comprehensive update of its Helpful 101 Training to ensure that its frontline staff provided impeccable service.
It gathered feedback from customers on its service performance. Fortunately, thousands of customers participated in these surveys and gave the stores exceptional scores.
Meanwhile, with the return of face-to-face classes, ACE Hardware partnered with over 200 public schools for Brigada Eskwela – a stapled programme which is aimed towards providing quality and accessible education through carrying out repairs to schools weeks before classes begin.
ACE Hardware stores across the Philippines teamed up with local public schools – donating disinfectants, cleaning supplies, paints, and other items to ensure that returning students had a safe and clean learning environment. It also donated various items to the Department of Health and various community hospitals across the country.
It also entered into a partnership with Habitat for Humanity, which was kicked off by ACE Hardware’s employees helping an existing Habitat repaint their building exterior and making donations for their community urban garden project.
ACE Hardware also ensured that employees become a part of this campaign. It prioritised the professional development of its employees by utilising a proprietary training platform called the ACE Learning System – which helps equip all employees with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
The store also celebrated Retail Employees Day (RED) back in December 2022. RED is an ideal opportunity to express appreciation for all employees and recognise individual performers and teams.
Taking a critical step towards defining how to operate a business post-COVID, ACE Hardware remains committed to its mission of being a helpful place, not only in times of crisis but in everyday life. With a renewed focus on helping customers, communities, employees, and the environment, the company continues to look for innovative ways to make a positive impact in the world.
ACE Hardware also brought home the Hardware Retailer of the Year - Philippines during the Retail Asia Awards in recognition of its commitment to staying true to its mission of being helpful.
