Rakuten launches AI agent across mobile, web platforms
It offers tools such as AI chat, voice input, image search, and translation.
Rakuten Group, Inc. and Rakuten Mobile, Inc. have officially launched Rakuten AI, a new artificial intelligence agent now available in the Rakuten Link app and as a web app in beta.
The service is free to use and is set to expand to Rakuten Ichiba in Autumn 2025.
Rakuten AI is designed to enhance user experiences and streamline interactions across the Rakuten Ecosystem, offering tools such as AI chat, voice input, image search, translation, coding support, and personalised recommendations.
It is also built with a strong understanding of Japanese language and culture, making it highly localized and relevant to users in Japan.
Within Rakuten Link, users can access Rakuten AI features including text, voice, and image-based queries, along with AI-generated suggestions to refine searches and navigate services.
The web app, available to all Rakuten ID holders, includes additional capabilities such as deep search, problem-solving, and content creation, positioning Rakuten AI as a versatile tool for both daily tasks and more complex needs.
Later this year, Rakuten AI will be integrated into Rakuten Ichiba to offer personalised product recommendations using insights from user behavior, preferences, and purchase history.
The launch marks the beginning of Rakuten’s broader vision for an Agentic Ecosystem—a hyper-personalised, intelligent network where AI helps users make better decisions, take faster actions, and manage tasks across multiple services.
Rakuten aims to position Rakuten AI as the main entry point to its digital ecosystem, optimising both mobile and web experiences for seamless access and intelligent assistance.
