Which Southeast Asian companies made it to the Top 250 retailers?
These were from Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, and Vietnam.
A total of six companies from Southeast Asia were included in the Top 250 retailers globally during the Financial year 2020, according to Deloitte.
Of the six retailers, two each were from Indonesia and Thailand, and one each were from Philippines and Vietnam, according to Deloitte’s Global Powers of Retailing 2022.
These companies are:
- 60 CP ALL Plc - Thailand
- 178 SM Investments Corporation - Philippines
- 186 PT Indomarco Prismatama (Indomaret) - Indonesia
- 198 Central Retail Corporation Public Company Limited - Thailand
- 209 PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk (Alfamart) - Indonesia
- 222 Mobile World Investment Corporation - Vietnam
Thailand’s CP ALL Plc revenue for FY2020 reached around $16.8b, whilst SM Investment was at around $5.97b, and Indonesia’s Indomaret was at $5.9b.
Central Retail posted a revenue of around $5.5b, Indonesia’s Alfamart recorded a $5.2b revenue, and Mobile World Investment Corporation was at around $4.7b.
Meanwhile, Mobile World Investment Corporation was also ranked fourth amongst the Fastest 50 retailers with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in retail revenue of 33.9% from FY 2015 to 2020. Indomaret ranked 38th with a CAGR of 11.7%.
FY2020 is from 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021.
