Vietnam's retail sales rose 7% to $14.46b in July

It accounted for 79.2% of the total sales of goods and services.

Vietnam’s retail sales of goods grew 7% YoY to $14.46b (VND333.76t) in July, according to data from the General Statistics Office of Vietnam. In the first seven months of 2020, retail sales value climbed 3.6% to $96.08b (VND2,218t).

Overall, retail sales of consumer goods and services in 7M 2020 dipped 0.4% YoY to $121.27b (VND2,799.6t), with goods accounting for 79.2% of the total figure. In July, sales of goods and services expanded 4.3% to $18.71b (VND431.88t).

Sales in accommodation and catering services slipped 16.6% to $12.17b (VND280.9t) in 7M 2020, whilst sales of travelling plunged 55.4% to $480.64m (VND11.1t). Sales of other services declined 5.9% to $12.54b (VND289.6t).

At the same time, the average consumer price index (CPI) for 7M 2020 grew 4.07% YoY, with July figures rising 3.39% YoY but declining 0.19% against December 2019. Core inflation edged up 0.09% MoM and 2.31% YoY.
