South Korea’s convenience stores bring out rare gift sets for Chuseok
These gifts include high-end liquor sets, electric vehicles, and electronics.
South Korea’s convenience store chains have launched sales of gift sets for the upcoming Chuseok holiday from September 9 to 12, including a variety of rare items that have drawn attention from customers, Korea Bizwire reported.
GS25 is rolling out luxury liquor gift sets, including DRC Romanee-Conti 2017 valued at about $60,740 (KRW79m), Dom Perignon Champagne and Vintage Wine.
Capitalizing on the recent hike in travel demand, the company has also expressed plans to start selling a product titled “Stay on Jeju Island for One Month” in collaboration with Hanwha Resort.
At the same time, E-Mart 24 has launched sales of electric vehicles, electric motorbikes and electric bicycles as Chuseok gifts.
The retailer teamed up with local EV maker DPECO to release two types of ultra-small electric trucks and electric vans that customers can purchase through advance reservation after perusing catalogs at company stores.
For its part, 7-Eleven plans to show off a variety of luxury brand bags and wallets, including products from Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, and Prada, as well as extraordinary items such as golf balls made of pure gold. The convenience store chain has also unveiled plans to sell Nintendo Switch video game consoles and treadmills.
