Singapore retail job postings up 9.2% ahead of festive season

Job seekers in the retail sector also rose by 7.6%.

Retail job postings in Singapore increased by 9.2% from July 2022 to July 2023 in anticipation of the festive season, according to data from global matching and hiring platform Indeed.

Indeed said the top five in-demand jobs were for the positions of Branch Manager (22%), Retail Sales Associate (20%), Store Manager (9%), Merchandiser (4%), and Logistics Associate.

Meanwhile, there was also a 7.6% growth in job seekers who are looking for opportunities in the sector.

The top roles job seekers are looking for were Retail Sales Associate (27%), Store Manager (13%), Cashier (10%), Branch Manager (8%), and Logistics Associate (7%).

“While retail is not a seasonal industry, it enjoys a significant surge during peak season and it’s reflected in the growing number of job postings and job seekers’ interests. This trend in the job market is likely to contribute significantly to the overall economic activity in the region,” said Saumitra Chand, Career Expert, Indeed.
