Lotus's Malaysia unveils first flagship store in Kuala Lumpur

The company is hoping to rebrand 15 stores by June, and 62 by year-end.

Lotus’s Malaysia has officially unveiled its first flagship store in Kepong, a town north of Kuala Lumpur, following its rebranding from Tesco Malaysia. This strategy comes after being acquired by Chareon Pokphand Group (CP Group), IGD reported.

The retailer is also set to launch its second and third flagship stores in Penang and Johor in May. Collectively, it is aiming to rebrand 15 stores by June. Lotus’s expects to rebrand all 62 stores by the end of the year.

All the Tesco products that are produced in Malaysia will be rebranded to Lotus’s, with new packaging. Local suppliers (including SMEs) which have been working with Tesco for the last 18 years will continue partnering with Lotus's.

In the coming months, Lotus’s has expressed plans to strengthen its presence through its online grocery home shopping and multichannel platforms namely Lazada, Shopee, HappyFresh, and foodpanda. It will also be enhancing its existing shopping apps such as the Scan and Shop, Order and Collect as well as equipping nine more stores with self-checkout counters.

Lotus’s inclusion into the CP Group will also mean greater variation in its offering of sister company, CP Food’s ready-to-eat meals, IGD noted.
