Kennedy Town gets retro concept store as Wellcome expands

It turned tram culture into a store design strategy in Hong Kong.

Wellcome has opened a second nostalgia concept store in Hong Kong, extending a format first launched at Prosperous Garden in Yau Ma Tei.

The new store is located on Victoria Road in Kennedy Town, with the theme revolving around the city’s “ding-ding” tram system and 1980s to 1990s campus life.

The concept also draws on neighbourhood character and collective memories.

“The store features a replica tram station, a vintage-style ice-cream motorcycle, a retro vending machine, a millennium-era Yes! Card photo booth, and more selfie spots,” it said in a LinkedIn post.

The store also features collaborations with Nestlé, Swire Coca-Cola Hong Kong, and The Garden Company Limited.

The Victoria Road outlet operates daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
