JD.com offers 9% tax refund for overseas shoppers at flagship stores
Minimum spend of $28 in a single store on the same day required.
JD.com is offering overseas shoppers a tax refund of up to 9% at its JD MALL and JD Electronics & Appliances City flagship stores.
International customers who spend at least $28 (RMB200) in a single transaction can apply for the refund at designated in-store counters across 106 stores in 39 Chinese cities, including Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu, and Guangzhou. A valid passport or ID must be presented on the same day of purchase.
To support international shoppers, JD has added multilingual signs, bilingual announcements, and step-by-step tax refund guides in-store. Purchases can be picked up in-store or delivered free to hotels.
The tax refund applies to over 50,000 products across 100 categories, including electronics, home appliances, beauty, and household goods. JD.com says items like smartphones, laptops, drones, and massage devices are especially popular with foreign visitors.
The move is part of JD’s push to attract more international tourists and boost offline retail sales.
