How life at home will look like in 2030: IKEA

The Swedish retailer included the AI-generated images for the tenth edition of IKEA Life at Home.

Life at home by 2030 will revolve around the three themes of “Home on the Go”, “Resilient Communities” and “A Nurtured Home,” according to a report by IKEA Retail.

In the 10th edition of the IKEA Life at Home Report, the company leverage artificial intelligence, in cooperation with its team of experts and foresight partners, including freelance art director Per Eriksson, to visualise the future, sharing foresight through three conceivable scenarios of future life at home in 2030.

Under “Home on the Go”, the Swedish retailer has envisioned a future with highly customisable approaches, from home furnishings to accessible technologies, all in the comfort of home. However, features at home give priority to individual progress, privacy, and pursuit of new experiences.

Within “Resilient Communities”, the future IKEA interpreted is a firm focus on communal belonging, stability, and wise usage of resources. People will be more favourable towards community than technology.

For “A Nurtured Home”, the retailer has seen widespread adoption of smart home systems and the efficient use of resources. More consumers will be more adept at the significance of human interaction towards nature and the use of resources from the environment.

“By building multiple futures scenarios, we can explore emerging needs and ensure that IKEA can continue to be a relevant partner for life, making everyday that little bit better for the many people, today and tomorrow.” Maria Jeansson, Global Foresight Lead for Life at Home Report for IKEA, shared.
