FairPrice Group to expand AI-powered retail innovations across stores by 2026
This includes smart carts, digital price tags, and AI staff app.
FairPrice Group (FPG) has announced plans to roll out a suite of digital innovations powered by Google Cloud AI across its supermarket network by the end of 2026.
The technologies include smart shopping carts, digital price cards, the hybrid “ShopBeyond” retail format, and “Grocer Genie,” an AI-driven staff application designed to improve store management efficiency.
The expansion builds on FPG’s “Store of Tomorrow” (SOT) programme, launched in June 2025 in collaboration with Google Cloud.
The initiative commits to piloting 20 digital solutions annually to transform retail experiences.
In August 2025, FPG opened its first physical SOT outlet at Punggol Digital District, which now serves as a testing ground for these innovations.
Several solutions, including smart carts, digital price cards, ShopBeyond, and the Grocer Genie app, were first trialed at the Punggol store.
Following evaluations on customer value and operational efficiency, FPG said a curated selection will be deployed across its outlets, with implementation tailored to individual store needs.
“By bringing proven AI solutions from our Store of Tomorrow programme to more supermarkets across the island, we want to reimagine the shopping experience for our customers and remove the friction from their weekly grocery runs,” said Vipul Chawla, Group CEO, FairPrice Group.
“Whether it’s with smart carts that provide personalised offers and in-store navigation, or hybrid retail formats that bring together the best of physical and online shopping, our aim with the programme is to make every day a little better for all in Singapore,” he added.
